Lightweight dress code: Shaken, not stirred

It´s not a sign of hipsterism when friends and drivers of historical lightweight bicycles try to dress themselves in the correct way.

After all, dresses make people, beeing a question of feeling one's personal connection with the historical material, and of immersing oneself in the long-gone days, to make up for the feeling which Bartali and Coppi have had in climbing the Alpe di Siusi or Koblet as he passed through Brive-la Guards also.

In addition, we speak of a close connection to team sports, linked to jerseys and shorts that already brought up in the early 20th interesting and attractive advertising designs creating a very specific look of a rider.

The dress code at major events such as l'Eroica, Stalen Ros, In Velo Veritas or the Retroronde van Flanders is discussed controversialy. Especially those, who refuse historical correct clothing insinuate easily to be part of a carnival event.

Enlightenment is therefore a necessity!

For those interested, I´ve put together some catalog scans from two French sportswear retailers dating from the 30th to the 60th. Feel free to use them as an inspiration for your new cycling dresses.
